The leading company in Russian film and television industry, Central Partnership, collaborates with NFPP in post producing the first fantasy film ever to be made in Russia. The film is called The Wolfhound (Volkodav) and is the biggest project that has been made in post - Soviet and also the most expensive Russian project to this date. Filming began in Slovakia in June 2004 and continued in Moscow where a whole town and a castle, both in ancient styles, were built for the purpose of the film. The Wolfhound is shot on S35 and contains a vast amount of advanced digital effects work. The director of the film is Nikolai Lebedev, the director of photography is Irek Hartovich, while Rouben Dishdishyan is in charge of producing this first film in the fantasy genre coming out of Russia. With the film now in post production at NFPP, the Wolfhound will undergo a Digital Intermediate process, and right now the material is being scanned in 2K and 4K resolution. Later in the process NFPP will also conform, grade and do On-line work on the Wolfhound. The film will also be recorded to 35mm IM neg by NFPP. Grading of the Wolfhound will be done by Colourist Thomas Barkenäs. Thomas is one of the main colourists at NFPP and has worked on many Swedish feature productions, for example “Jalla Jalla”, “The Queen of Sheba’s Pearls” “Harry’s Daughters”, and most recently “Frostbite”. The Wolfhound is based on a bestselling book by Maria Semenova. The character Wolfhound is a warrior from a tribe called the Grey Dogs. They and their village are annihilated by a man called Cannibal, and the lone survivor is Wolfhound. He sets off on a journey to seek vengeance for the deaths of his tribe members. Along the journey he meets a few companions and is pulled into a series of events, which eventually begins to show him what the true purpose of his journey is.
